The complete program is a series of 25 jumps or levels, which needs to be made at least once every 30 days to avoid additional ground school and jumps/cost. Each level consists of different learning objectives that you must complete in order to advance to the next level. Repeated levels are necessary if all goals are not obtained. Today's lightweight, reliable, and comfortable sport parachutes make soft, stand-up landings possible even for beginning skydivers. The parachutes used at Skydive Houston are ram-air canopies and are rectangular in shape. The jump staff at Skydive Houston is fully trained and licensed by United States Parachute Association (USPA).
AFF Level 1 courses are held at 7:30 a.m CST on Saturdays; please make your reservations now. This will consist of approximately 6-8 hours of ground school, with aircraft procedures, freefall maneuvers, the opening sequence of a parachute, emergency situations, landing techniques, and practical exercises in body positions for exits and freefall. After you have completed your ground school and passed the exam, you will exit the airplane at 13,500 feet, with 2 UPSA rated AFF Instructors holding on to you and then guiding you to a safe landing by radio contact.
